September 2018 Highlighted Educator
Every month, Cube For Teachers highlights an educator that is recognized for their ongoing collaboration, helping other educators by sharing and curating effective teaching resources.
Most recently known as the CIO for the Waterloo Region District School Board, Mark Carbone’s support for educators and commitment to education has earned him great respect by educators throughout Ontario, Canada.
It is for this reason, we are recognizing Mark Carbone as September’s educator of the month.

When it comes to education, what are you passionate about?
“The bottom line for me is being professionally involved in areas that make a difference to student learning. What is it that we can read, write, record, learn, share that will have a direct impact in the classroom. This translates into building capacity, collaboration, owning your own learning, personalized PD and using technology effectively.”
Is there a new frontier in education you are gearing up to explore?
“I am currently excited about being involved in two particular projects: the ONEDmentors program with VoicEd Radio and the Digital Human Library as well as the Digital Citizenship Summit (DigCitSummitCa) being held in Toronto this fall. ”
What benefit would you bring to another Cube follower? (ex what kinds of resources do you most often share)
“I typically share resources highlighting effective use of classroom technologies, collaboration and using technology effectively in the learning process.”
Do you have Cube folders we can share with the global community of educators?
What kinds (topic) of resources are you currently searching for?
“Currently my main focus is on curating materials on effective collaboration, privacy as well as effective technology use in the classroom. ”
